They tell me...

They tell me to pursue material richness
They tell not to be absorbed in my dreams
They tell me to prosper by means of elusiveness
They tell me everything is exactly as it seems

They tell me to avoid living my inner self much
They tell me ‘bout the dangers of authenticity
They tell me to censor some words and body touch
They tell me how I should live my intimacy

They tell me what my likes and dislikes should be
They tell me I should give in to society
They tell me how unpleasant I am when I disagree
They tell me to forget about humanity

They tell me to repress my intuition and impulse
They tell me what I need to become a whiz
They tell me I should fit in like everyone else
They tell me how utopic true happiness is

They tell me to condemn and judge the wicked
They tell me to eventually collapse
They tell me not to show off my true self naked
They tell me not to follow my path but their maps

They tell me I can’t live completely unchained and free
They tell me to be doubtful of the unknown
They tell me that’s the way things are and will be
They tell me their doctrine and make it my own

They tell me their religions are fair moral judges
They tell me I won’t find liberation
They tell me they successfully handle their grudges
They tell me with almost convict expressions
